Questions

Tile questions, answered plainly.

About materials, sizes, showers, waterproofing, prep, grout, care and scheduling.

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The Free Tile Estimate comes with no obligation. You see the scope, the materials and the schedule in writing before anything is ordered or started.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and nearby communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Smyrna and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

What do you do?

Tile installation and repair for homes, builders and businesses, plus planning help, layout design, grout and sealing and care guidance.

Can I hire you for a small project?

Yes. Many calls are for a backsplash, a small bathroom or a few cracked tiles, and we welcome them.

Materials and sizes

What tile is best for a bathroom floor?

Porcelain with a textured finish is a common choice because it is dense and gives grip when wet. Small mosaics also help on shower floors. Samples and a short call settle it.

Is large-format tile a good idea?

It can look clean and open with fewer grout lines, but it needs a very flat floor and careful setting. We check flatness before recommending it.

Do I need to order extra tile?

Yes. Extra covers cuts, patterns, breakage and future repairs. Patterns like herringbone and diagonal need more than a straight lay.

Showers and waterproofing

Is tile waterproof?

Tile and grout slow water but do not stop it. A waterproofing layer behind the tile protects the structure, and we explain the method we use.

What is a flood test?

Water is held in the shower pan for a set time before tile goes down to show whether it leaks. It is a smart step we are glad to discuss.

Can you make my shower curbless?

Often yes, though it needs a recessed floor and careful waterproofing. We check the floor structure first.

Prep, grout and care

Why does prep matter so much?

Tile follows the floor beneath it. A flat, stiff, dry and clean base prevents cracks, loose tile and uneven edges.

Does grout need sealing?

Cement-based grout and natural stone usually do. Epoxy and urethane grouts generally do not. We write down the schedule for your materials.

What cleaner is safe for tile?

A pH-neutral cleaner is a safe choice for most tile and grout. Avoid acids on stone and harsh abrasives on glossy tile.

Scheduling and cure times

How long does a bathroom tile project take?

It depends on the scope. Demolition, prep, waterproofing, tile and grout each take time, and cure times add days between steps. We give you a written schedule.

When can I use my shower?

After the grout and sealer cure, usually a few days. We tell you the exact timing for the materials we use.

How early should I order tile?

As early as you can. Special orders can take weeks, and an early order keeps the project on schedule.
